SEOUL, KOREA – Samsung’s Chairman Lee Kun-hee met Li Ka-shing, the chairman of Cheung Kong Holdings on September 11th. They discussed the extensive cooperation plan within diverse sectors including mobile phone, LTE communications network, plant, construction, and engineering. Both chairmen exchanged views on strengthening existing cooperation and expanding business plans. Lee Kun-hee expressed his gratitude that Samsung Electronics recently won a contract for LTE communications network project from Hutchison 3G, a subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa owned by Cheung Kong Holdings. It was Samsung Electronics’ first tapping into the European LTE communications equipment market.
In July of this year, Samsung C&T Corporation entered the Hong Kong construction market for the first time by winning contracts of subway extension construction projects. Both companies agreed to further cooperate on harbor, power generation, and water treatment which Cheung Kong Holdings primarily focuses on, as well as marine plant, construction, and engineering which are Samsung’s strengths.
