Samsung’s new mid- and low-price smartphone brand will be created by adding a certain alphabet behind the word Galaxy, like “Galaxy S.”The new smartphone brand will have a price range around 300,000 won.
This move is part of Samsung’s efforts to fight back against the onslaught of Chinese smartphone makers such as Lenovo and Xiaomi. Samsung officials said on September 16 that it will release brand-new low- and mid-price models in the global markets, including China and India, at the end of next month.
Samsung’s decision to strengthen its presence in low- and mid-price smartphone market is based on its confidence that its price competitiveness is not inferior to that of Chinese companies, if it leverages its mobile phone plant in Vietnam which has an annual production capacity of about 200 million units.
