SEOUL, KOREA - The average export unit price of Hyundai Motor hit record high in the third quarter of this year.Despite the decline in export volume and amount compared to a year ago, Hyundai Motor marked an increase in the average export unit price thanks to the increase in the share of premium models, including the Genesis.
According to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers’Association on October 29, Hyundai Motor exported 233,891 units, worth US$3.94 billion, during the third quarter of this year. These figures are down 5.7 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively, compared to a year ago.
Hyundai Motor’s export unit price averaged at $16,900 in the third quarter, up 4.9 percent from $16,100 a year ago. This figure represents the highest export unit price in its history.
Despite the sharp decline in export volume, Hyundai Motor saw its export unit price rise sharply thanks to the increase in exports of premium models such as Genesis, Sonata and Maxcruz.
