SEOUL, KOREA - Hyundai Motor revealed Sonata Turbo 1.6, a new model developed especially for the Chinese market, at the 2014 Guangzhou Motor Show. The Sonata Turbo 1.6 is scheduled to be released in China within next year.
Sonata Turbo 1.6 has three engine lineups—2.0 MPI, 2.4 GDI, and 1.6 Turbo GDI.The 1.6 Turbo model is appointed with a mesh-type radiator grille, aimed at making it appealing to young Chinese consumers.
The Sonata model mounted with a 1.6-liter Turbo engine will also be sold in the United States starting from the end of this year.
Beijing Hyundai plans to launch the sales of new Sonata lineups from the first half of next year.Beijing Hyundai said that the design of the new Sonata models is optimized for China’s road conditions.
In the meantime, Kia Motors showed off a compact SUV KX3 concept car at the Motor Show. Kia Motors plans to mass-produce the model within the first half of next year.
