SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are expected to pass the 10-percent barrier in market share in China’s TV market.The two South Korean TV makers, which rank No. 1 and No. 2 in the global TV market, have had a hard time in China.
According to market research firm DisplaySearch on November 20, Samsung gained a share of 9.4 percent in China’s TV market in the third quarter of this year, while LG achieved a 3.6-percent share during the same period.
Staying ahead of Samsung were Hisense (16.1%), Skyworth (14.4%), TCL (12.4%) and Changhong (11.8%).LG Electronics followed Konka (9.4%), Sharp (5.5%), Sony (4.5%) and Haier (3.7%).
The combined Chinese TV market share of the two South Korean companies stood at 11.3 percent in the first quarter and 14.2 percent in the second quarter.
