Samsung Electronics is stepping up an effort in solidifying its leading position in India by leveraging all of its popular-type smartphone models.
According to industry sources and market research firm Strategy Analytics on July 6, Samsung Electronics plans to release all of its Galaxy J series models in India by September this year.
The Galaxy J series is one of Samsung’s three low- and mid-price smartphone lineups, including the Galaxy A and Galaxy E. The Galaxy J series models are available at prices between 100,000 won and 250,000 won, the least expensive among Samsung’s LTE phones.
Among four Galaxy J series models, Samsung Electronics released only the J1 in India. Samsung plans to release the remaining J2, J5 and J7 in India within the third quarter of this year. The plan reflects Samsung’s strong intention to establish a clearer profile in the Indian smartphone market.
In January, Samsung also launched its Tizen operating system-mounted smartphone Z1 first in India. The smartphone achieved the strongest sales among less-than-$100 smartphone models in India during the period from January to May 2015.
