Samsung SDS’s logistics business, which has been mainly serving Samsung Group affiliates (including Samsung Electronics), will expand beyond Samsung Group. To that end, Samsung SDS, the IT service arm of Samsung Group, has launched “Cello Square,” an open logistics management platform that connects shippers with logistics service providers (LSP) online.
Samsung SDS said Tuesday at its headquarters in Seoul, “Cello Square is an logistics platform that embodies our global logistics operation capability and technologies. It will help forge win-win relationships between shippers and LSPs.” Cello Square (www.cellosquare.com) is an integrated logistics solution whereby all the logistics processes can be managed in a consolidated manner.
Once a shipper accesses the site and enters the place of departure, the place of destination and the desired delivery date, the world’s flight and maritime logistics schedules will be pulled up. As of now, 25 shipping companies and most of the world’s airlines are cooperating with Samsung SDS.
The platform also provides Best Match Service, which recommends the best shipping routes, estimated times and fees according to customers’ specific demands (e.g. the place of departure, the place of destination and the desired delivery date). In addition, reservation requests can be made online and a real-time shipment tracking system is also in place.
Above all, leveraging big data analytics, the platform assesses logistics risks related to natural disasters, accidents and incidents and gives “risk scores” to each shipping route. And then, it informs shippers of its risk assessment results via email or mobile phones. Shippers can check out the entire shipping process via the Cello Square platform.
Furthermore, the platforms furnishes Customs Library Service, which offers information on 18 countries’ customs clearance formalities and calculates tariffs and inland duties of 53 countries. To top it off, 150 logistics experts are available around the clock to answer questions.
