The National Science Development Conference marked the end of a whirlwind week comprising the OECD Ministerial Meeting and World Science and Technology Forum.
The meetings took place between political, industry, and academic leaders from around the globe who underscored the importance of pursuing environmental sustainability, inclusivity, stability, and wealth by way of scientific and technological innovation.
The National Science Development Conference held today shifted the focus to Korea’s efforts in these areas. The conference was a celebration of Korea’s economic and technological progress in the seventy years since liberation from Japan – as well as a an opportunity to strategize on the future of Korean scientific and technological innovation
“Korea’s scientific and technological progress, Korea’s economic progress, Korea’s new paradigm rooted in creative economy all are areas that stood out to the many delegates who attended the meeting,” Choi Yanghee said. He continued, “The numerous institutions in Daejeon and their contribution to Korea’s creative economy has not gone unnoticed by the OECD nations. Our achievements were possible because of the decades-long backdrop of scientific and technological innovation and the relentless drive and commitment of all Korean scientists.”
The meetings were held at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) in Daejeon, Korea under the aegis of the OECD and Korea’s Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning.
