On November 16, the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) unveiled “the Top 10 Data Protection Technologies Deserving of Attention from Businesses” as industrial demand for the top 10 data protection technologies is expected to pick up in the next 2-3 years for effective responses to ever-evolving cyber threats.
The top 10 technologies are the most promising solutions in the following three data protection R&D sectors: technologies aimed at addressing social problems such as cyber scams, technologies designed to protect institutions and businesses from cyber threats and technologies for keeping society (the government and public infrastructure) safe.
KISA had looked into security threats witnessed over the past year and policies and technology trends in and outside the nation and surveyed nearly 220 experts from industry and academia to select candidate technologies for the top 10 list. And then KISA narrowed down the candidates into 10 finalists in consideration of urgency and implications.
“In order to enhance the competitiveness of Korean cyber security technologies, we will preemptively develop data protection technologies in view of industrial demands, facilitate technology sharing among research institutions through the center for sharing data protection R&D technologies and assist businesses in commercializing technologies,” said KISA President Baik Kee-seung.
