Shinsegae Group's vice chairman and CEO Chung Yong-jin recently came under fire after posting a degrading message about the appearance of American actress on his Instagram account on Jan. 31.
Alongside the controversial photo showing Chung and the woman side by side in a restaurant, he wrote, "I look tiny and my neck looks longer," which appears to degrade the waitress' appearance.
After much criticism from many local online commentators saying the remark is belittling her appearance, the Shinsegae chief removed the photo on his Instagram account.
This is not the first time his imprudent behavior using his social media caused a controversy.
Earlier in January, Chung also posted a photo of Kims Club located in Gangnam District with a message of "(I am) spying on (it)," raising speculations that Shinsegae may take part in the bidding on the takeover of the discount store.
Later, the group’s official had to explain, saying, “The posting on his social media and Shinsegae’s taking part in the bidding for takeover is separate,” adding, “Nothing was confirmed yet.”
