Korean food and confectionary conglomerate SPC Group said on May 30 that it took on Italian architect and designer Alessandro Mendini as the group’s design advisor.
SPC Group’s ties with Alessandro Mendini trace back to 2015. Marking the 70th anniversary of its foundation in 2015, SPC Group designated Alessandro Mendini as its design mentor and carried out various collaborative projects. Hiring Alessandro Mendini as an advisor is a first for the Korean industry.
SPC Group is planning to work with Alessandro Mendini on designing product packages and novelty items for its major brands such as Paris Baguette, Pascucci, Baskin Robbins and Samlip Food.
SPC-Alessandro Mendini collaborative projects will cover Paris Baguette’s tea bottles, Samlip Food’s jam packages, Baskin Robbins ice cream cones and SPC Group’s tumbler, which are scheduled to be released consecutively starting from May 2017.
SPC Group has thus far teamed up with world-renowned designers Karim Rashid and Stefano Giovannoni.
In September 2015, SPC Group unveiled the group’s new emblem, designed by Alessandro Mendin, to mark the 70th anniversary. And the launch of 30 different character and novelty products embodying Alessandro Mendini’s unique reinterpretations of the brand images (BI) of SPC Group’s major brands drew great attention.
