Daebo Group has said that the 14th Seowon Valley Green Concert, held on May 28 in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, attracted 40,000 visitors, bringing the total number of visitors since 2000 to 320,000.

Daebo Group has said that the 14th Seowon Valley Green Concert, held on May 28 in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, attracted 40,000 visitors, bringing the total number of visitors since 2000 to 320,000.

A Daebo Group official said: “Since the 1st Seowon Valley Green Concert was held with only 1,520 visitors after the opening of the Seowon Valley Country Club, the annual charity concert has grown into a large-scale hallyu festival in just 16 years. The charity concert has brought in over 3,000 international visitors annually from the US, Europe, Japan, China, Vietnam, the Philippines and Taiwan, establishing itself as a global festival.”

In the run-up to the free annual benefit concert held on a golf course, concertgoers from home and abroad flock to Gwangtan-myeon in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, thus breathing new life into the local economy. In particular, restaurants, convenience stores, accommodations, gas stations and taxi drivers enjoy a pickup in sales. Daebo Group has estimated that Seowon Valley Green Concert, co-hosted by Daebo Group and the Seowon Valley Country Club, brings economic benefits worth 10 billion won to the local economy.

The official website of Seowon Valley Green Concert has seen a rise in traffic. In May alone, the official website got 24,418 hits from the Philippines, 409 from Japan and 324 from the US.

Right before the concert, a charity bazaar was held to sell items provided by Seowon Valley members and Callaway Golf Korea and various kinds of foods. The proceeds (38 million won) from the charity bazaar were donated to a wheelchair association, local Orphanage PajuKids, Gwangtan-myeon, etc.

However, holding the charity concert doesn’t come cheap. Post-concert golf course turfgrass management and financial losses from temporarily closing the golf course during the weekend amounted to over 1 billion won. However, Daebo Group Chairman Choi Dung-kyu allowed part of the golf course green to be used as a parking lot for the convenience of concert visitors.

The concert was divided into the opening and main performances, put on by this year's lineup of 21 teams, including popular girl groups EXID and Mamamoo and trot singer Hong Jin-young.
