A Korean user made a shocking claim that that Samsung Electronics' latest phablet Galaxy Note 7 exploded while it was charging. On Aug. 24, the user uploaded seven photos of a charred Galaxy Note 7 to the message board of an online community frequented by smartphone users.
The user said: “My boyfriend’s Galaxy Note 7 exploded while charging overnight. It’s been less than a week since he started using the phone. I was woken up by a large bang and the smell of smoke.” Fortunately, she and her boyfriend didn’t get hurt but she revealed photos of the severely damaged phone and a slightly burnt blanket.
In the photos, the left side of the Galaxy Note 7 is severely damaged and the back melted out of shape. And the screen turned yellowish.
Samsung Electronics said: “We’ve never heard of spontaneous combustion of smartphone batteries. We will inspect the phone thoroughly to determine the exact cause of the explosion.”
