Creative Startup Korea (hereinafter called the “CSK”), a theme hall dedicated to start-ups, as part of the ‘2016 Global Mobile Vision (GMV)’, the Asia’s most iconic Mobile Tech Expo, is scheduled to open in Kintex, Ilsan.

This year marks the occasion of hosting the 2nd CSK, which is the Korea’s largest start-ups conference to be participated by over 100 leading domestic start-ups and is comprised of a variety of rich informative programs, including foreign investor meeting led by KOTRA trading officers, IR pitching, and founder keynote and forums.

The CSK, which is scheduled until the 8th of this month, has been co-hosted by KOTRA, KINTEX, Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, Center for Creative Economy & Innovation and Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Center in a bid to lay the groundwork for domestic start-ups to make entries into overseas markets. Over 100 domestic start-ups covering a comprehensive range of latest IT technologies, including mobile applications, Internet of things, software, FinTech, and wearables will open up their booths and meet some 350 global venture capitalists, accelerators and buyers from countries around the world, including US, China, Germany and Singapore.

The start-ups conference and IR pitching scheduled to be held for two days on the main stage of the CSK Hall is anticipated to catch keen attention. Frank Lee, the e-Commerce Team Leader from Facebook, is going to deliver his speech with the theme of ‘Strategy of Korean start-ups to make entry into the Facebook e-Commerce along with debates and discussions of ‘entry strategy for start-ups in different continents’ among venture capitalists from around the world. In particular, the IR pitching session to be participated by 20 companies is expected to attract keen attention from overseas venture capitalists and accelerators.

Another session will invite successful start-up founders to share their experiences and stories. In a start-ups seminar titled ‘Struggle and survival of mobile start-ups’ and ‘Advices for robot start-up founders in the future, precedent founders who managed to survive in hypercompetitive start-ups market will share their success and failure stories, which will be informative and inspiring for those who seek to start up their own business models. In addition, separate Q&A sessions will promote communications and mentor-mentee relationships between speakers and audience, mutually benefiting each other.

On top of it, the partnering pinpoint consultation meeting will be held by KDDI, a major Japanese telecommunications service provider, and Global Brain, a prominent Japanese venture capital, as an auxiliary event accompanied with the CSK. This particular event is designed to provide an opportunity for our domestic start-ups to spin up with major Japanese market players and to make strategic entries into overseas markets. 23 start-ups highly selectively chosen by KDDI will have heated consultations and negotiations for two days.

Yun Hyo-chun, the director of Small and Medium Business Supporting Organization said in an interview, “The CSK is an invaluable opportunity for our domestic start-ups to meet and establish a networking relationship with IT venture capitalists and buyers from around the globe. We are going to continue our effort to help our start-ups attract investment and to establish necessary partnerships in order to facilitate them to expand their international presence and to create a healthy and sustainable start-up ecosystem”.
