Science for Society held its first seminar at the National Assembly Members' Office Building to mark its foundation on Nov. 28. The 1st seminar was attended by dignitaries such as Korean neuroscientist Cho Zang-hee, Rep. Moon Mi-ok of the Minjoo Party of Korea (MPK), Rep. Kim Soon-rae of the Saenuri Party, Rep. Shin Yong-hyun of the People's Party to celebrate the foundation of Science for Society, a non-profit organization aimed at encouraging communication between the science and technology sector and society.
Lee Sang-mok, chairman of Science for Society, said, “More and more researchers from the science and technology sector will work towards greater social participation based on science and technology, innovation in the field of science and technology research, protection of rights and interests and provision of legal advice and consulting services.”
Science for Society was founded in August by people from government-funded research institutes, universities, companies, etc.
