Seoul, Korea, February 9, 2017/ Korea IT Times – Merck, a leading science and technology company, joins SEMICON Korea 2017 from February 8 to 10 to showcase its comprehensive material technology solutions for the advanced semiconductor manufacturing industry. With the global trend driving miniaturized, high performing integrated circuits and transistors, innovative material solutions are at the forefront of this year’s exhibition.

“Recent strategic acquisitions by Merck offer a broad and innovative portfolio to serve the entire advance semiconductor process, and this is a unique value proposition that only Merck can offer to the industry”, stated Rico Wiedenbruch, Head of IC Materials Business Unit from Merck.

“Also, Merck will be able to raise our exposure to exciting global megatrends in electronic materials through SEMICON”. Michael Grund, Managing Director of Merck Korea, projected.

Megatrends such as Big Data, Automotive Electronics, IoT, and an increased interest in green are becoming increasingly fragmented. Demand for individual and specialized microchips is expanding the need of advanced semiconductor processing. Given the technological limits and slowing faced by Moore’s Law, Merck aims to enable the process of miniaturization and advanced packaging by means of innovative material solutions supporting the unending growth of the semiconductor industry.

“The complete semiconductor supply chain, whether its IC design house or backend packaging industry, are striving to meet the fragmented and diverse needs driven by the megatrends,” added Rico Wiedenbruch. “In addition to the investment in fixed assets, Merck’s advanced material solutions is able to create that sweet spots where cost, technology and business needs are met.”
