SEOUL, KOREA – Back in 1972, Corning Incorporated, a US manufacturer of glass, ceramics, and related materials, forged its relationship with Korea by setting up a liaison office in South Korea. Corning established Samsung Corning in partnership with Samsung in 1973, Samsung Corning Precision Glass in 1995 and Samsung Corning Advanced Glass in 2012.

SEOUL, KOREA - At the early stage of the Smartphone market, Samsung Electronics was unrivaled in terms of the thickness competition. Back then, iPhone 3GS was 12.3㎜ in thickness while GALAXY S was only 9.9㎜. But the situation has now turned around when Apple launched iPhone 5 with only 7.6㎜ in thickness, driving its rival, Samsung, up the wall in the H/W competition.

SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S3 smartphone lost the top spot to Apple iPhone 5 in the fourth quarter of last year. According to a U.S. market research firm Strategy Analytics (SA), the iPhone 5 was sold 27.4 million units in the last quarter of 2012, renewing its sales record, with a market share of 12.6 percent.
